No. Cars stop at the mainland car parks, 2.5 km from the rock. The free Passeur shuttle leaves every 5 to 12 minutes and takes about 12 minutes, or you can walk it in about 45 minutes.
The first 30 minutes are free. In the 2026 mid-season grid a car pays €16 for up to 3 hours and €22 for up to 24 hours, and from September to June parking is free from 6:30pm to 3am. Check the current prices before you go.
No. The village is a commune, freely accessible day and night without a ticket. Only the abbey and the car parks are charged.
€16 from 1 April to 30 September 2026 and €13 from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027. Under-18s with their family and EU citizens or residents aged 18 to 25 go free; visiting the abbey has the details.
Half a day for the abbey and the village. It takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to walk from the car parks to the abbey entrance, and a self-guided visit takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes.
Only at the biggest spring tides, when the water covers the esplanade at the village entrance for about an hour. Arrive 1 to 2 hours before high water to see it; tides and bay walks explains how to read the tide tables.
Only with a certified guide: walking the bay alone is extremely dangerous because of the tide, quicksand and river channels. Guided walks run from the foot of the Mont and from Genêts, from short quicksand outings to crossings of 13 to 15 km.
